Description:
The Royal Castle in Poznan (Zamek Krolewski w Poznaniu) dates back to the 13th century. It was built on the hill Gora Przemyslawa, named after the castle founder – prince Przemysl I. In 1536 the castle was burnt down in the fire and later rebuilt is the Renaissance style. It was damaged and reconstructed a few times in the course of history. During WWII it was almost completely destroyed and later rebuilt between 1959-64. Today the castle houses the Museum of Applied Arts.
